Sending Messages to Slack, Mattermost, Matrix and more

In some situations it might be useful to receive notifications upon certain device or trigger states. For example if the battery of radio based sensors goes down. Or you want to get informed if some windows or doors in your building are and/or stay open.

Nowadays not only in companies services and applications like Slack, Mattermost, Matrix and more are in wide spread use. Many IT based companies use the API’s of these applications to send notifications out of special software appliances – for example the status of build pipelines in the software development – to certain users, groups or channels.

Fortunately all of these applications use at least similar API’s all based on HTTP POST.

OTDT is able to do a HTTP POST as an action (the “that”). With this you can use any defined trigger (the “this”) to send as message to the named messaging applications as a notification.
